i just put in new rings and connecting rods,
crank is turnable but tight.

I seem to have a small window of opportunity to get it to start on starter before battery runs down.
it will fire put dies out quickly.
I feel it's more of a not getting a good rev speed than anything

can i jump start from my modern 12v vehicle if i disconnect the 6 volt starter lug and jump directly to it?

also I do have a good running model A with 6 volt system, can I just jump from that?

tnx patrick

First try jumping from your 6 volt system. If that won't work then use a charger with a 6 volt charge cycle. I would use the 12 volt system as a last resort but it can be done. The charger is your best bet since you can try it till the battery runs down and let it sit till the charge comes back up then try again.

Patrick,

You can use the 12v jump without hurting the starter, just be careful not to over heat the starter. I've use this process several times to start freshly rebuilt engines.

You'll never get the power you need to spin a tight engine with 6V, at least from my experience.

Take the plugs out and tow the car around the block in high gear to loosen it up a little.

I've done what Tim suggests with good results. I might also suggest squirting some oil in the cylinders before towing. As a fresh assembly they might be a little dry and with new, tight rings may need a little lube. (Yes, it may make a mess as some oil might blow back out of the open spark plug holes)
