Although I appreciate your desire to want to tour our lovely valley at 25 miles per hour - some of us have jobs to get to. Mine is very strict regarding time and did not appreciate my excuse as to why I was 4 minutes late. In the future - please give advance warning. (I would have left 1/2 hr earlier and even made you guys some lemonade.) If that is not feasible - please pull off to the side (one driver actually did that - he had a black Model T . . . I'm sure that helps identify).

Patti,

I was not on that tour. As a frequent T driver however, I thank you for taking the time to find and post your suggestions on this forum. Most people would have responded in a less civilized and thoughtful manner.

Hopefully, our members will read this and pull over, as you suggest, when they see traffic building behind them. Many of my local chapter members already do this.

It may be hard to realize if you've not driven a Model T but, it actually does not feel like you're driving that slow when piloting one. Sometimes we don't realize how slow we're really going. I'm sorry that you were late for work and hope it doesn't sour you on Model T's and their owners.

By the way, I like your sense of humor. We'll look into that black Model T siting and hunt it down.

Dear Patti, As a Model T owner and a resident of Roanoke, Virginia I have to say I am a little taken back by your message. I drove my Model T from New York City to Seattle, Washington last year and had no complaints, 4,500 miles. As a matter of fact most folks were delighted with our presence. Please realize many of us that take these tours also work and this may be our vacation, that brings income into the valley. We also pay taxes that entitle us to use public roads and since we are not on interstates there is no minimium speed limit. If we pulled over every time some cars got behind us we wouldn't get anywhere. It is also sometimes hard to get restarted again if we are on a steep grade. I am sorry you were late to work but there is no way to notify anyone of the tours route. I am not on this tour all though I was suppose to. It is a gas and brass tour. Please try and enjoy our past in the future. The car you are riding in today is a net result of the revolution that these cars caused in America. If some time you would like to go for a ride in a T please contact me and I would be glad to take you to see why we do this. Jerry is also correct in stating that it doesn't feel like your going that slow. Most T's can travel on the flat around 45- 50 mph however when we hit a hill like in Catawba the 20 horse power motor does drop speed quickly. Thanks for your post while your here look around the site and see some of the neat cars posted here. Again I am sorry you were late to work but I bet your boss never got that excuse. Have a great evening. The tour will end tomorrow evening and I am not sure where they are going tomorrow but you might want to leave a little early. Thanks, Jon Griesenbeck
