I have a vaporizor carburetor in my 1927 Model T Tudor and when it is cold it will not start, will not suck the gas up; but when it has been running it starts great. I just had the carbureator overhauled and it didn't seem to help. I'm reluctant to change to the older carbureator because there must be a solution to the vaporizer problem. Any suggestions?

I am running vap rigs on both my 26 and 27 with many miles under all sorts of conditions on them.
Here are some points to check. Sure sounds like you have a vac. leak.
1. Do you have gland rings for intake/exh, if not you may be leaking vac there. I use them and coat them liberally with high temp red silicone.
2. Check the plate on the top manifold, not a bad idea to coat both sides of it with red stuff and carefully pull the four bolts down.
3. Check the nut or ring gland that screws down the seat the big tube going from the top manifold to the carb. I usually coat the mating flange with red stuff also.

Thanks for the information. Where would I buy the high temp silicone? Are you coming to the MTFCI tour in SD next week? I will be there.

You can buy the red silicone gasket cement at NAPA or AutoZone stores as well as a lot of others. I am coming to Rapid City, banner #213. We will be in our 26 touring.

FYI, there's a NAPA about 2 miles from the host hotel.
