Would like some feedback on a couple of timer questions:
1-I have been running an Eclipse IXL "shortproof" timer for many years with no problems. It has a Bakelite case and carbon wiper, just wondered what knowledgable folks here thought of this make/design?

2- I have about a dozen old worn out timers I have difficulty throwing out (actually I have difficulty throwing anything out). Most are standard Ford steel cased, a couple are odd balls. One is a cast iron case with Ford script. What is the vintage of this one and do any of them have any value or use?

Thanks,
Bill Bryant

The cast iron case replaced the cast aluminum case used before it (I believe your '14 would have had the cast aluminum case -- my '17 would use a cast iron case such as you describe). There are folks who collect the "oddballs" and many times, the Ford cases can be cleaned up with some light machining and work just fine.

So now you have an excuse NOT to throw them away <grin>. Got the same problem myself.

I saw an ad looking for Ford timers to be rebuilt not too long ago. I don't recall if it was on Ford Barn or the MTFCA site. Dave

Thanks for the responses. Any opinions on the Eclipse IXL timer I have been using?

Hey, if it works it's good. As long as the bakelite is smooth where the brush runs I'd think it's fine.
