Does anyone make the Omnibus Model T Body?
I am rebuilding a 1925 frame up and would like to find one. Thanks, Mike Story, 407-716-3630 or mjstory@embarqm ail.com

The ones I've seen have all been reproductions built by the owners. If I recall correctly they are copies of a Hercules body that was offered back in the day. One of these stayed the winter for several years at my place. The body was very heavy but the owner said he'd had it up to 50 mph on the freeway. In the case of that particular reproduction, I had time to look it over and concluded that there were acceptable ways to make a similar body that would be lighter and just as sturdy. I did not take dimensions or anything at the time, just came up with ways to lighten the load. The only things that had been done to the motor was a very light porting job in the intake ports, smoothing the surfaces more or less and .040" oversize aluminum pistons. This was hooked to a Ruckstell rear end with 3:1 gears.

About 25 years ago I bought a 1909 running gear that had a later Waterloo omnibus type body on it. Similar to a Hercules but somewhat lighter built (and better looking). I rebuilt the chassis and sold the body parts to a friend of mine. It was all rotted but totally complete and with all the ironwork. The wood was plenty good enough for patterns. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it was still up in his barn. Can check if you'd like.
